| It’s a Weekend Of Racing in 2022 | |
The dates are official!
- Barrio Logan Grand Prix - Saturday, May 14, 2022
- Fiesta Island Time Trial #3* - Sunday, May 15, 2022
The weekend of racing concept is supported by Ralph Elliott, who does the race announcing for both events, and FITT Director Mike Barreras. During our recent board discussion about BLGP, one of the top questions was, “How do we attract more cyclists to the event?" The Weekend of Racing is an attempt to do that.
Several issues still need to be resolved including registration and state championships. We’ll talk more about this at our November BoD meeting on Tuesday, November 8th. You’re welcome to join us.
And if you’re a cyclist who runs or works at a hotel that’s centrally located to Barrio Logan and Fiesta Island, let me know and let’s see if we can work out a package deal for LA area cyclists to spend the weekend racing and enjoying San Diego.

| Tamara Gonzalez Remembrance Ride Sunday 11/21 | |
We are sad to announce the recent passing of a member of the San Diego cycling community: Tamara Gonzalez succumbed to complications stemming from a long bout with leukemia. Before the illness Tamara was a frequent participant and well-known rider on the SDBC B ride.
Tamara’s friends are organizing and leading a remembrance ride for her at conversation pace on Sunday 11/21 at 9am starting at UCC following one of her favorite routes: the traditional 46 mile SDBC route.

After serving so many years in this position, it is time for me to step down.
If you have been
enjoying the benefits of this club, it is time to step up and join the Board of Directors.
The BOD meets monthly. The Volunteer Director’s
job is simply to round up volunteers for our various events. Online volunteer sites make this task so much easier than when I started in this
position. Our great club members never fail to step up when needed to get the job done.

| Looking for Someone to Take the Lead on the Borrego Ride and Camp | |
After 20 years, Team Webb has decided it's time to pass the baton on this trip. We are looking for someone
to take the reins, hopefully, and keep it going.
This is a 2 day event, riding from Mira Mesa Park and Ride to Borrego Palm Canyon Campground
and returning the next day. Sag vehicles carry your camp gear. SDBC provides dinner and breakfast. Everyone helps with cooking and camp clean up.
Keep it the same? Change it up? That would be your call. If no one steps up, there will be no trip this year.
We are willing to
help.
