Annual Cecy Krone / MADD Memorial Ride |
|
Please join SDBC for a 54 mile bike ride (that includes Les's Loop) to Carlsbad in memory of fellow SDBC members whose lives have been taken on the roads by drunk drivers.
The ride will leave UC Cyclery (home of the Saturday ride location) at 8:30am.
Note: UCC will not be open. Restrooms are available at Starbucks and Ralph's
This is not a race, but a fun ride (moderate pace) and a time for all of us to enjoy riding together to remember club members killed while riding. We will be stopping at Cafe La Terre on the return trip for a FREE cup of coffee.
Cafe La Terre is located at 315 S. Hwy 101, in Solana Beach.
Red memorial MADD ribbons will be given to all participants to tie onto their bicycles during the ride.
When: Monday, September 6th, 2021 Roll out at 8:30 am
Where: UC Cyclery, 8715 Villa La Jolla Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037
* By joining this or any other SDBC ride, you acknowledge cycling is an inherently dangerous and potentially deadly activity. It is impossible for every rider to be kept safe against every potential mishap every second of the ride. By riding with SDBC you are giving your implied consent that you take responsibility for your own safety, and assume all liability for any incidents that might occur on our rides

Title Sponsorship Opportunity |
|
At SDBC’s request our 2020 Title Sponsor – Spinergy – became our Wheel Sponsors for 2021. We did this because of COVID19 and the uncertainty of our ability to fulfill a title sponsorship package with Spinergy, or anyone else; and because it was our 75th anniversary and we wanted to place our special anniversary logo in the title sponsorship position on the front of our 2021 jersey.
Spinergy has decided it likes its current level and wants to again be our Wheel Sponsor for 2022. We’re working on that new agreement now.
This means our Title Sponsorship level is now officially open. Is this a good fit for your business? If it is, or if you know of a business that could benefit from a closer relationship with our Club, let us know.

To To Party or Not To Party!
Have You Voted? |
|
The votes are coming in. If you haven’t voted, please do. The Board of Directors want to hear from you!
Mr. SDBC Ralph Elliott has proposed staging our annual banquet in December. This is our 75th anniversary and he believes we should celebrate this milestone with a party in 2021 - our actual anniversary year. Ralph proposes it be held on Sunday, December 5th. All of the other details remain to be worked out.
The Board will discuss this at its next meeting (on Zoom) on September 14.
What do you think? IF your were available AND the COVID situation allowed, would you attend our 75th anniversary Party on Sunday, December 5th?
YES (either for sure or probably)
NO (either no way or probably not)
Please reply either
YES or “
NO ” to president@sdbc.org.
If you rely “YES,” please include how many will be attending with you.
Vote one time only - it’s the honor system.
Voting is open until Friday, September 10th.
Thanks!

Looking for Someone to Take the Lead on the Borrego Ride and Camp |
|
After 20 years, Team Webb has decided it's time to pass the baton on this trip. We are looking for someone to take the reins, hopefully, and keep it going.
This is a 2 day event, riding from Mira Mesa Park and Ride to Borrego Palm Canyon Campground and returning the next day. Sag vehicles carry your camp gear. SDBC provides dinner and breakfast. Everyone helps with cooking and camp clean up.
Keep it the same? Change it up? That would be your call. If no one steps up, there will be no trip this year.
We are willing to help.
Contact Linda with your questions and ideas.

Master Timer needed for Fiesta Island Time Trial Series |
|
We have an opening for a Master Timer at our Fiesta Island Time Trial Series. We are looking for a dependable, somewhat tech orientated, motivated, team building person, to fill our very instrumental position of Master Timer. We have 4-5 Time Trials per year and our Time Trials are typically over by 9:00 A.M. so the time commitment is minimal.
Our SDBC Fiesta Island Time Trial Staff is a fun, tight knit group. You will enjoy camaraderie with your fellow SDBC members, and I take the team out for a de-brief breakfast meeting immediately following each Time Trial. Our next Time Trial is October 17, so if you think that you are a good fit contact me directly. Email me at: fittdirector@sdbc.org

Mimulus Water Stop Elimination |
|
The new owners of the property on Mimulus St. in Rancho Santa Fe have chosen to remove the water spigot that has been used by cyclists for many years. As the weather warms up, please plan ahead by using larger bottles and/or carrying two if you have only used one in the past. Cold water is now being supplied by Cafe La Terre in Solana Beach where we have been stopping for coffee since the restart of the Saturday Rides in April.

Do You Want to Take a First Aid/CPR Course for Cyclists? |
|
Would you be interested in a CPR class for a nominal registration fee?
The idea is to teach it on a Saturday afternoon, after normal club rides.
The Coalition is trying to find out about how much interest there is.
Please email coalition@sdbc.org if you are generally interested. Exact date is TBD; no commitment at this time. There may be multiple sessions.
