Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it' easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.
Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon. |

Huge News $20,000 Grant from BLGP |
|
Our Barrio Logan Grand Prix has received a $20,000 grant from outgoing county supervisor Greg Cox. A long time advocate for children’s health and physical fitness, Cox decided the State Junior Championship coupled with the community kids races, and the Bike Safety Rodeo & Helmet Giveaway were all activities he wanted to support. All funds must be used on BLGP only. Executive Race Director Graham Johnson and his working group are handling the 2021 BLGP efforts. If you want to help please contact Graham at racedirector@sdbc.org
2021 is our 75th birthday and we have the ability to make our next BLGP the biggest, best event in Club History. Please join in!
And a big...
THANK YOU SUPERVISOR GREG COX!!!

Nominations for 2021 Officers & Directors at November and December Meetings |
|
Club elections will be held at our December 1, 2020 Annual Membership Meeting. All positions are open. As is the Club's tradition, and in accordance with our Bylaws (Section III-C -Election of Officers and Director), a slate of candidates is being created. Most officers & directors are seeking reelection and will appear on the slate UNLESS there are other SDBC members nominated for that position. We will take nominations from the floor at (1) our November 10, 2020 Board of Directors meeting and (2) the December 1st annual Membership Meeting. At the annual meeting, all competitive positions will be pulled from the slate and members will be able to hear from each nominated candidate, and then vote for the candidate of their choice. We encourage all members who want to serve to run for election. The only requirements are (1) you be at least 18 years old, and (2) you are current with your membership dues. If you're interested in running please contact me at president@sdbc.org

A Note From the Special Events Director |
|
Special Events Update |
|
As a result of a few factors including the Covid19 group meeting rules and the fact that there was almost no racing during 2020 the board of directors has decide not to hold an annual banquet in January 2021. That will mean of course there will be no awards for riders for the year either. There is some ongoing discussion about a possible Cyclist of the Year award since the definition of that award is centered on overall contributions to the club, and there have been some significant contributions this year. Alternate ideas about special events for later in the year when things are (hopefully) getting back toward normal are being considered.
A modified Toy Contribution process for the Croc Center in place of the normal Toy Ride is being prepared. Stand by for more information soon.
There will be no fall Club Night for the normal release of the new club kit for 2021. The kit design is almost complete, it looks fabulous and will be released soon. Sizing will be arranged for those who aren't sure what size they would wear.
As are all of you, we are anxiously awaiting the time when we can start regular rides and to schedule special events for the Club.

A Note From the Training Director |

Saturday Rides Update |
|
As of this week, County of San Diego health orders still prohibit "gatherings." Until we have clearance, the Club's Saturday Rides will remain suspended. The Club will restart the rides as quickly as possible once permitted.
We encourage you to ride your bikes either solo or in very small groups. Some riders have been using UCC as a starting point and riding our usual routes. If you do so, please do not linger and form groups of more than a few cyclists. If you wish to meet cycling friends there, please consider arriving before or after 8:30 to help reduce the number of riders leaving the parking lot at that time, or consider meeting in the vicinity. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Please stay healthy and safe so we can look forward to riding with you again in the future!

Upcoming Webinar from SDBC Sponsor Edward Jones. "Guide to Investing in an Election Year" |
Investor doubts may seem especially prevalent during election years when campaigns spotlight the country's challenges. Yet, even with election year rhetoric amplifying the negative, it's important to focus on your vision for the future.
This event, Guide to Investing in an Election Year, will discuss the following ideas to keep in mind:
- Successful long-term investors stay the course and rely on time rather than timing.
- Investment success has depended more on strength and resilience of the American economy than on which candidate or party holds office.
- The experience and time-tested process of your investment manager can be an important contributor to your long-term investment success.
