The deadline for Weekly Update submissions is Noon on Wednesday. Updates are published on Thursdays. Email submissions to weekly@sdbc.org Submissions can include anything from photos to race reports and results, etc.

Tuesday and Friday racing will resume at some point in the future with live streaming and new shade and judges structures! The velodrome swap meet has been post-poned, but organizers are working on the plans for a future date.The board of directors will announce available access as soon as Balbo Park is re-opened, please check in at the website https://www.sdvelodrome.com/

Let's help the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition meet their fundraising goal!

Because of the current pandemic, and the cancellation of events, the Coalition is seeking to raise $15,000 to offset financial losses. As a member of SDBC, you are automatically a member of the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC). You should see an email from the Coalition today, with details about donating.

The Coalition produced and sent the county/cities "Recommendations for active transportation
actions as a COVID-19 response" which allowed us to keep riding and bike shops to be
considered essential businesses.

Here are some other things SDCBC is doing to make cycling better for all of us:

• Bikeway maintenance campaign
• Smart Cycling classes
• Basic Bike Skills classes
• Bicycle Friendly Driver classes
• Gordy Shields Memorial Ride
• Monitoring and responding to the Encinitas cycle track situation

HELLO CYCLING FRIENDS

We have lost a Great Member of the SDBC Life Member peloton. Bob Visser, 85 years old, took his last pull at the front on May 5, 2020. He died in his sleep of natural causes and was still riding every day up to his death.

Robert Visser was born in Rotterdam in 1935. He was a Big Mentor to so many of the San Diego Bicycle Club racers! Bob started the SDBC Saturday rides in the late 1970s, known then as "Vissers Misery Rides" all thru Rancho Santa Fe. He worked at Rorh Industries for 30 years. His wife Dorthy passed several years ago.

Bob was just one of a few racers back then 40+ called "Veterans". He will be remembered as Always Fit, Lean, Tan, and Style! "No one could wear a cycling cap as perfect as Bob!" We well miss him but never forget him!
