SDBC has an annual operating budget of $225,000 including cash and trade. We use the biggest part of that to support the 80+ racers in our teams for juniors, and women & men of all ages. Just this year racers representing SDBC won national, state, and district championships, competing in road, track, and mountain bike events. So far this year, SDBC has had 78 Firsts, 58 Seconds, 45 Thirds, and 363 top Ten Finishes.
We also organize some of the best races in the country, including the Barrio Logan Grand Prix and the Fiesta Island Time Trial Series. We’re working to add more. We’ve just expanded our Mountain Bike Team to include dirt, gravel, and cyclocross, renaming it the Off-Road Team.
Of course there’s our world famous Saturday rides - always free and open to the public; and our free kids bike safety rodeos where we give away helmets and offer safety training. (We’d love to find a sponsor for the Rodeos.) Plus FREE member-events like Club Nights, the Volunteer Party, holiday rides like the Cecy Krone Memorial Ride on Labor Day, the fourth of July Red, White, & Brew Ride & bar-b-q, and Black & Green Friday Ride & pizza party, plus free rides on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And our annual Banquet of Champions.
We could not field the incredible teams of athletes and do all the other things we do without the strong support from our sponsors like Spinergy* (cash + wheels), Specialized (bikes), UC Cyclery (all kinds of incredible support + cash), Pactimo (kits + cash) Roka (sunglasses + cash) PLUS cash from Sheffield Platers*, Bonnici Law Group*, Milikowski Tax Law*, Specialty Produce*, Purely Cloudy, Solana Beach Coffee Company, The Physical Therapy Effect, and Eppig Brewing. Top Females to Join SDBC Junior Team |
|
The SDBC Junior team is proud to announce some new additions to our squad. Four highly rated cyclists have committed to join and race in SDBC Kits. Please welcome our newest teammates.
Erie Chen, age 11, is a multi-national champion. She is the reigning USA Cycling National Champion for the 2018 Cyclocross and 2019 Road Criterium. She also medalled in the 2019 Track National Omnium, Silver Medal, 2019 Mountain Bike National, Bronze, and winner of our very own Barrio Logan Grand Prix.
Makena Topolovac, age 13, 2018 SCNCA Road State Champion, 2019 Track National Medal recipient, and compete as a National Youth Elite triathlete.
Sophia Rossi, age 13, is a 2017 and 2018 Track National Medal recipient.
Aine Chen, age 9 and sister of Eire Chen, took second place in her division at the 2019 Barrio Logan Grand Prix, she is getting ready to start her first fall season of racing.
Having seen these young racers and many events over the last few years, I can say that they possess the desire and skill to do well in upcoming seasons. They are great junior racers and great competitors and will be a fantastic addition to our team.

The Fiesta Island Time Trial Team is proud to announce our Time Trial Series is driving forward into 2020 and beyond with exciting new features such as: Food, Drink and Entertainment!
As we continue to bring you one of the best race courses in America, we refuse to stand still. Our loyal riders (riders from all counties in California & beyond) deserve the best, and our riders, families and friends, WILL get our best!
Look for many of these exciting new features at our Fiesta Island 2019 season ending finale on October 13th. Enjoy food and drink from our very own Solana Beach Coffee co. as you listen to live entertainment while taking in our breathtaking San Diego Bay views.
As we move forward into the future, get ready for a new look, a more festive atmosphere, more categories, and more hugs! We cherish all of our riders from our first-time riders to our World Champions and of course all of their/our families and friends.

| Annual SDBC Borrego Springs Ride and Camp |
OCTOBER 26-27 |
Ride to Borrego Palm Canyon Campground on Saturday, return on Sunday, 75 miles each day. Sag vehicles will carry your camp gear for you. (No promise of vehicle support on the route, you are responsible for getting to the campsite.) All you have to do is ride.
Meet at 7 am at the Mira Mesa Park and Ride to load gear. Riders off at 7:30.
Sag drivers needed. If anyone wants to volunteer to be a follow vehicle and offer rider support, that would be great. Otherwise, drivers can head for the desert as soon as they are loaded and enjoy a ride or a hike.
Must be a club member to participate, and this event is free to club members!

First Few Weeks in October |
|
IMPORTANT - START TIME CHANGE Get ready for the ride to and from the SDBC Borrego Springs camp-out coming up at the end of October. D-2 Ride Leader Tony Lowery, is leading rides Sundays leading up to the event (no ride on 9/29.) Here is the information:
The ride is about 60 miles long with 7,000 feet of elevation gain. It goes around the Mission Valley/Mission Gorge area with great climbs and fun downhills on good pavement in most cases. The ride rolls out at 7:15 AM from the Rancho Mission Plaza, located at the s/w corner of Rancho S.D. Rd and S.D. Mission Rd. CLICK FOR MAP There's a Cafe/Coffee shop & four restaurants in the Plaza and a 7-11 across the street. It's probably best to park on the street unless you are patronizing a business in the plaza.
