SDBC Weekly Update

Amazon Smile

Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it’s easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.

Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon.

Size: M/L (see size guide in pictures)

My Input: This bike was a confidence builder as I worked up to A rides.  The power transfer is fantastic, and the way it slips through the air is very noticeable.  It's in fantastic shape, probably 1300-1500 miles on it and I challenge you to come find a flaw on this baby.
Giant Catalog Copy: Proven through 3rd party wind tunnel tests to be more aerodynamic from every yaw angle tested when compared to other leading aero road bikes, Propel Advanced SL sets a new standard for speed.  The Advanced SL-grade composite frame is engineered with AeroSystem Shaping Technology, which saves 12-36 seconds over a distance of 40km at a speed of 40 kph compared to key aero bike competitors - with zero compromises in weight or stiffness and technologies including the SpeedControl SL brake system, integrated seatmast and internal cable routing.  The result is clear: Propel Advanced SL is faster from every angle.

No wheels are included with this sale.

$1750.00 takes the whole enchilada.

Riders are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to carry to the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, located at University Ave. and 69th Street. Led by Santa Claus, the ride is holiday pace (slow), and everyone is welcome. The Salvation Army is collecting toys for children of all ages–toys for older children are especially appreciated–as well as canned or boxed nonperishable food.

A Note From the Sponsorship Director
San Diego Bicycle Club

New Name for Our 2019 Racing Teams

We’re changing the name of our race teams.  Currently the teams race under the name, “SDBC/Emerald Textiles p/b UC Cyclery” (p/b means “presented by”).

Spinergy is our new Title Sponsor, which means our 2019 racing teams need a new name.  And it’s..."SDBC Powered by Spinergy p/b UC Cyclery”.  “Powered by Spinergy" was the big favorite at the recent Club Night, and is the preferred wording by Spinergy.  The new name has the approval of USAC, and the unanimous endorsement of the Club’s Executive Committee.  The USAC website has been updated.

This is the name all USAC licensed racers should be using on their 2019 licenses and on race registrations.

Racers:  Welcome to “SDBC Powered by Spinergy p/b UC Cyclery”!

A Note From The Bike Coalition Liaison

San Diego Bicycle ClubSDCBC Logo

Thanks everyone who voted in the Coalition board elections. Our own Linda Webb got the most votes!

One of my internet cycling advocacy friends, engineer, blogger and author of "Bicycling StreetSmarts",  John S. Allen, quoted me in his club's newsletter this week.  I was rambling about why groups often pass other cyclists too closely.  Take a look and let me know what you think.

Here are some upcoming holiday bicycling events:

  • Saturday, December 8, 8:30 am - SDBC Holiday Toy Ride @ UC Cyclery
  • NEW DATE DUE TO WEATHER - Annual SDCBC Holiday Joy Ride and Golden Gear Awards - Thursday, December 13, 5:30 pm.Click here to register
