Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it’s easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.
Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon. |

SDBC Weekly Race Results |
The racing season has ended for most of our racers. Any new results will be posted in the Recent Race Results section of the weekly update. |
|
A Note From the President |
More Racing in 2019
The Club is exploring adding at least two more racing events with cash prizes in 2019. The first is a USAC sanctioned event at the San Diego Velodrome. The second is a metric century in October in East County with timed climbs. A full century might be added in 2020.
We need two or three well organized and motivated club members to join a working group headed by Executive Race Director Kevin Festini and Women’s Team racer and national champion Pat Murray. The purpose is to make recommendations to the Board on these two events, or others races that might be developed by SDBC. Contact me if you’re interested.

Annual SDBC Borrego Springs Ride and Camp |
Save the date! October 27-28
|
The annual SDBC Borrego Springs ride and campout will be the weekend of October 27-28. (I know, a couple weeks early, but we had some time conflicts.)
This is a 75 mile ride, each day, starting in Mira Mesa. We camp overnight at the Borrego Palm Canyon Campground and ride home Sunday. You are expected to be able to complete the ride on your own, as sag support is limited to carrying your camp gear, unless you make your own sag arrangenents. The pace is D2/D1/B. There is no official leader on the road, but you will get directions.
Saturday's dinner and Sunday's breakfast are included. This event is free and for club members only. Really, if you had to pay for a weekend ride, or even a one day charity ride, it would cost more than an SDBC membership.
Limited to 50 participants. We need sag drivers.
I'll post information on reservations in August.

Padres Pedal the Cause |
Join SDBC at Padres Pedal
the Cause on
November 17, 2018
Padres Pedal the Cause is a local nonprofit that seeks to fund cancer research that will lead to increased survivorship and ultimately, cures for cancer. Their biggest fundraising effort is an annual cycling event at Petco Park – and we are happy to announce that SDBC has created a team this event.
How can you participate:
There is Cycling (4 routes – including 25, 55, 88 and 100 miles, all going over the Coronado Bridge and finishing on Centerfield.), 5K walk/run, Kids Challenge (closed bike loop) or Stationary Bike – all events end on the field at Petco Park with free food & beverage. There are also volunteer opportunities.
Click here for all participation options, which also includes registration and fundraising info at the bottom.
The beneficiaries:
Every dollar participants raise goes directly to the following beneficiaries: Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego.
Join the SDBC team:
Join the team by clicking here or visiting gopedal.org/SDBC. Please contact Lauren Diaz, who works for Padres Pedal the Cause and is a member of the SDBC Women’s race team, at Lauren@gopedal.org with any questions.
Hope you can join us on November 17!
