SDBC 2017 Sponsors

We have some new sponsors this year - Spinergy, Bonnici Law Group, and Giuseppe Restaurants & Fine Catering.

Emerald Textiles will continue as our title sponsor, UC Cyclery is continuing as our official bike club and sponsor of the men's and women's Cat 1/2 teams, and many sponsors that have supported us for years will continue to support us this year.

Please support our sponsors. Without them SDBC would not be able to maintain the racing teams and other activities that we have all enjoyed. Visit the sponsors page on the SDBC web site to view more information about each of our sponsors or click the logos to go the specific sponsor's web site.

Interested in advertising with us? Please email our Sponsorship Director for details.

The deadline for Weekly Update submissions is Noon on Wednesday. Updates are published on Thursdays. Email submissions to weekly@sdbc.org Submissions can include anything from photos to race reports and results, etc.

Classifieds for bikes and cycling related gear can be submitted by any SDBC member. Your add will run for three weeks. In the event you have not sold your items at the end of three weeks you can re-submit the ad. Email your classified submissions to weekly@sdbc.org. Please provide any photos in the original size if possible.

If you are unable to view the Weekly Email Update correctly, you can view an archived copy here. All corrections are also posted to the online version as well.

Annual SDBC Borrego Springs Ride and Camp
SDBC Logo

Trip Report

Fifty one riders and sag drivers gathered at 7 am for a chilly 7:30 start, on the way to Borrego Palm Canyon campground 75 miles down the road. The weather was beautiful. The winds were predicted to be 4-5 mph, but the headwinds did show themselves around Santa Ysabel. The group chose different routes, with some staying on the pavement and some going for the dirt roads of Black Canyon.

All arrived safely with the first rider in before 2, and most others in by 3. Well, one was missing and after many calls, texts and attempts to reach her via Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat, we found out she did not feel well, and had turned back, turned off the phone and slept. Glad she was OK and blame a text lost in cyberspace for the snafu.

Click for larger imageA smaller group headed up Montezuma Valley Road Sunday, while the one way riders and sag drivers went for rides and hikes before heading out. Again, the first rider was in before 2 and all others in by 3. I think this is the earliest I have ever been able to get home.

It was a really great group-- best ever, I think. Everyone pitched in to help with cooking and camp chores. They were on time coming and going.

Thanks to all who helped, but special thanks to Josh Bonnici for being the beer "sponsor" and choosing a variety that had everyone happy. (He kept trip expenses under budget.) Also, a special thanks to Jim Ralph for his on the road sag support.

The food was great, the stories around the campfire were entertaining, the weather perfect and the meteor shower a nice bonus.
