Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it’s easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.
Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.” Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience. Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon. |

SDBC 2017 Sponsors
We have some new sponsors this year - Spinergy, Bonnici Law Group, and Giuseppe Restaurants & Fine Catering.
Emerald Textiles will continue as our title sponsor, UC Cyclery is continuing as our official bike club and sponsor of the men's and women's Cat 1/2 teams, and many sponsors that have supported us for years will continue to support us this year.
Please support our sponsors. Without them SDBC would not be able to maintain the racing teams and other activities that we have all enjoyed. Visit the sponsors page on the SDBC web site to view more information about each of our sponsors or click the logos to go the specific sponsor's web site. |

A Note From the Training Director |
It's "Go Plug” Saturday!
It’s time to find a new home for the Go Plug. Linda Webb won it in May for recruiting volunteers for BLGP. Who will win it for June?
"Go Plug” nominations and voting takes 2 minutes and is done just before roll-out the first Saturday of each month.
Rules are simple:
- Any SDBC member may nominate any other SDBC member for any reason.
- Nominees must be present.
- SDBC members vote. Whoever gets the most votes wins.
- Winners MUST immediately attach the Go-Plug to their seats and it must stay on the bike during the entire month, except during races.
- The Go Plug must be returned to the Training Director by the first Saturday of each month.
So get your 10 second nomination speeches ready for this Saturday...and remind your nominee she or he must be present to be nominated.

3rd Annual SDBC Memorial Day Ride |
|
Monday, May 29th |
|
Weather was a little cool but that didn't deter the 50+ riders that came along on SDBC's 3rd Annual Memorial Day Ride. A good time was had by all, and apart from a couple of flats, there were no incidents. Thanks to all SDBC ride leaders for assisting in keeping the group together and safe.
We altered our course, per Jerry & Pete, to stay along the coast in OB via the fun and quirky "alley route." This took us out to Sunset Cliffs, with a few short hills to climb, but no biggie. On the way back from Point Loma most chose to stop at Newbreak Coffee in OB for some coffee & camaraderie. There were some new riders, some from out of town, and some who just moved here. Did you say hello to them?
Thanks to Richard Lee for the pic and thanks to all who were able to be there. Besides our Saturday club ride, and our racing teams in their pursuit of victory, it’s the many events like these that SDBC puts on throughout the year that bring us together and furthers the fun of cycling here in sunny San Diego.

A Note From The Bike Coalition Liaison |
Safety tip of the week: Don't get right hooked!
I know of three recent instances where motorists passed cyclists and then turned in front of them for a parking spot, causing the cyclist to crash. If you're in a bike lane or near the edge they don't even notice you when they pass. GET NOTICED: Use the full lane (even if the sign isn't there).
Got an unfair ticket - let me know! If you get a ticket you did not deserve, let me know and I'll try to help, or at least keep track of where cyclists are getting harassed by law enforcement.
Remember: your SDBC membership includes membership in the San Diego County Bike Coalition which includes a number of benefits. See the coalition website at sdbikecoalition.org.
