Amazon Smile

Do you shop at Amazon.com? If so, it’s easy for you to help SDBC receive donations from Amazon to SDBC. Just use the “Amazon Smile” charitable process in your account. Amazon Smile funnels a small percentage of their eligible purchase revenue to SDBC if you activate Amazon Smile in your account and choose “San Diego Bicycle Club” as the beneficiary nonprofit.

Instead of logging in through "amazon.com" you log-in through “smile.amazon.com.”  Very easy to use. It is EXACTLY the same shopping experience.  Nothing changes except SDBC receives contributions from Amazon.

SDBC 2017 Sponsors

We have some new sponsors this year - Spinergy, Bonnici Law Group, and Giuseppe Restaurants & Fine Catering.

Emerald Textiles will continue as our title sponsor, UC Cyclery is continuing as our official bike club and sponsor of the men's and women's Cat 1/2 teams, and many sponsors that have supported us for years will continue to support us this year.

Please support our sponsors. Without them SDBC would not be able to maintain the racing teams and other activities that we have all enjoyed. Visit the sponsors page on the SDBC web site to view more information about each of our sponsors or click the logos to go the specific sponsor's web site.

Interested in advertising with us? Please email our Sponsorship Director for details.

The deadline for Weekly Update submissions is Noon on Wednesday. Updates are published on Thursdays. Email submissions to weekly@sdbc.org Submissions can include anything from photos to race reports and results, etc.

A Note From the Volunteer Director

San Diego Bicycle Club

THANK YOU BLGP VOLUNTEERS!

This job of wrangling the 100 volunteers needed to put on an event of this quality does not end until I say "Thank you!" So, a big thanks from this year's 21st Annual Barrio Logan Grand Prix volunteer coordinator and the race committee. With just a week to go, many volunteer slots needed filling, and I was a bit nervous. I heard some of you say I was sounding like a broken record, but you all came through and did a great job. Give yourselves a pat on the back, and know that we cannot do something like this without you.

A giant shout out goes to Marilyn, because she took on my usual job of keeping track of all volunteers yesterday. I could not have done both registration and that. THANK YOU, Marilyn.

Many of you were veterans of past BLGPs, but there were many new faces. Some of you I never saw yesterday, to personally thank. But I knew you were out there somewhere, or I would have had someone asking where their relief was. Those who were running late, gave me a courtesy call, so we could cover for you. Thank you for that.

Thanks to the many people who just pitched in because they were standing around when something needed to be done.

Last of all,  the rain is pouring down as I write this, so let's all thank our lucky stars that we only had a heavy drizzle for a part of race day.

Thank you,

Linda Webb

A Note From The Bike Coalition Liaison

San Diego Bicycle ClubSDCBC Logo

Safety tip of the week: Don't get right hooked!

Bikes May Use Full LaneI know of three recent instances where motorists passed cyclists and then turned in front of them for a parking spot, causing the cyclist to crash. If you're in a bike lane or near the edge they don't even notice you when they pass. GET NOTICED: Use the full lane (even if the sign isn't there).

Got an unfair ticket - let me know! If you get a ticket you did not deserve, let me know and I'll try to help, or at least keep track of where cyclists are getting harassed by law enforcement.

Bike to Work Day is Thursday, May 18, 2017!

Remember: your SDBC membership includes membership in the San Diego County Bike Coalition which includes a number of benefits. See the  coalition website at sdbikecoalition.org.
