SDBC 2016 Sponsors
We have some new sponsors this year - Chrome Dome Caps, Overland & Shanahan Wealth Advisors, Sheffield Platers, Purely Cloud, and Pro Athlete Law Group.
Emerald Textiles will continue as our title sponsor, UC Cyclery is continuing as our official bike club and sponsor of the men's and women's Cat 1/2 teams, and many sponsors that have supported us for years will continue to support us this year.
Please support our sponsors. Without them SDBC would not be able to maintain the racing teams and other activities that we have all enjoyed. Visit the sponsors page on the SDBC web site to view more information about each of our sponsors or click the logos to go the specific sponsor's web site. |

Our Racers Going to Trexlertown |
|
SDBC Racers Headed to the Nationals in Trexlertown |
$2,607 of $3000 goal reached.
Thanks to all of the individuals that contributed to help send our SDBC 1/2 team riders to Track Nationals. As of 5 p.m. Wednesday SDBC has received $2,607 for our racers. This is not necessarily the final total, as there may have been money raised that has not yet come to SDBC. The Club will match this amount so our racers are getting $5,214 in additional support.
Our racers are on the way to Trexlertown, PA and will be sending/posting updates.
College students Roger Ainslie and Eric Geier are nationally ranked cat-1 track riders. Esther Walker is the 2015 SCNCA Champion in the individual pursuit, team pursuit, and women’s madison and she currently holds the national title for the women’s madison. Roger and Eric are hoping to compete together in the Madison event, as well as the Team Pursuit along with two other SDBC riders Ryon Graf and Kenyon Ralph. Esther plans to race the individual pursuit, points race, scratch race, and the madison.

SDBC Sunday Ride, 7/24 |
Inland & up the coast
|
The last two Sundays have seen an inland and a coastal ride. I’d like to continue that theme with those wanting a more challenging ride going inland. Hopefully, this will open up the ride a little to those looking for a simpler, less demanding ride up the coast (Nautical Bean Coffee at Oceanside Harbor). Not a beginner’s ride, we will still maintain an SDBC D1 pace, and have a few regroups, but it will certainly not employ the steep hills typically found on the inland routes.
Rides leave UC Cyclery at 8:30, led by SDBC member(s), with the focus on riding 2x2, regrouping on climbs, and a likely stop at our coffee shop sponsor, Java Depot, in Solana Beach before return.
42 miles approx inland ~ 54 miles to Oceanside Harbor. Inland can be as simple as an SDBC Saturday route or a past variation of a Sunday route. Decide together or with SDBC ride leader if present.
Bring two bottles of fluid and be ready to roll at 8:30. This Sunday, I’ll be leading the ride up the coast. We take a group pic and email out to participants with a write-up. If you participate in the inland route, please take a group pic and email to me with a short report. I will then send them both out to all riders I can identify.
Thanks, and have a safe & fun ride.

A Note From The Bike Coalition Liaison |
Safety Tip of the Week: REPORT aggressive motorists!
REPORT aggressive motorists! If a motorist threatens you with their deadly weapon get their plate and go to the appropriate police or sheriff department and INSIST that a report is FILED. Attorney Seth Davidson explains why this is so crucial in his piece - Don't take it lying down
And a follow-up piece - The people police
Seth's latest post (5/26) regading reporting vehicular harrassment - Report card
One report alone probably won't accomplish much. Tragically, police really have to be pushed to pursue these cases. But once they have more than one report on the same driver, and aggressive drivers are likely to be repeat offenders, that's a pattern, and even reluctant police may be spurred into action. So don't take it lying down, get that report filed!
