| Borrego Springs/Palm Canyon Ride and Campout |
San Diego Bicycle Club's annual ride and camp weekend will be November 1st & 2nd this year. Here's how it works.
Meet at the Mira Mesa Park & Ride (Mira Mesa Blvd & I-15) at 7am, leave your camping gear with a sag vehicle and enjoy the 75 mile ride to Borrego Palm Canyon campground. Have dinner and swap stories around the campfire. After Sunday breakfast, return to San Diego via Montezuma grade.
Sag support is limited to carrying your gear. You are responsible for getting yourself to Borrego.
Event is limited to 50 riders/sag drivers. Dinner and breaking provided. Free to club members.
Up to 10 sag vehicles welcome. (Motor homes are not allowed in the group campground)

| A Note From The Training Director |
Build Speed & Endurance
In the Off-Season
Get stronger and faster with the Off-Season C-ride. The C-ride started two years ago when a group of WTC riders wanted to keep building on their WTC experience. Now, the C-ride is picking up the baton every Saturday now through December, rolling out around the same time as the B-ride (whoever talks less, rolls first). The C-ride is being led by Didier Sagan and Xavier Cany and a team of experienced C-riders and assorted ride leaders. Here’s what Xavier says to expect:
For the first two months we are going to go easy and help riders build up speed and endurance. As long as people feel comfortable with a 55 miles climbing ride any regular A, B and D-1 rider should be able to join the fun. We'll keep the group together on the flats and have the fastest riders loop or wait for the slow riders whenever necessary on the climbs. It promises to be a lot of fun!
So join Xavier, Didier, and the team and for the fast, group training Off-Season C-ride!

| A Note From The Clothing Director |
SDBC Kit Fit Night
Fit Kit Night will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, November 17, 2014 at UC Cyclery. The 2015 SDBC Kit design will unveiled to SDBC members and the new fit kit will be available. Watch for more details coming soon.
 The white summer jersey is still available in the Men's Ascent AIR, Men's Summit Pro, Women's Ascent AIR styles. Visit the Pactimo Team Store to order.
To access the Team Store from the club web site, click on Mebers, then SDBC Clothing, sign in with your email address and password, click on Order Uniform, and follow the directions. If this is the first time you have ordered clothing from Pactimo, you will need to create your personal account.

| SDBC Sunday Ride ~ October 12 ~ Ride to the Kook! - in conjunction with the Kerry Kunsman Memorial Ride |
And you thought last week was easy...
Leaves UC Cyclery at 8:30, led by SDBC ride leader, again NOT hilly & NOT challenging.
Ride up the coast to The Kook, do a 180, stop at Java Depot, be back to UCC by 11:00, get water, roll out at 11:15, to be able to participate in the Kerry Kunsman Memorial Ride (see separate announcement) leaving from Shoreline Park South on Shelter Island at 12:30. The Memorial Ride goes along Harbor Drive and around the bay, approx an hour, beginning and ending at the park where the 2:00 service will be held. Feel free to ride your bike to UCC, or attend the event on your own via car or bike.
Bring two bottles of fluid and be ready to roll at 8:30. A group pic will be taken and sent to you afterwards with ride write-up.

| Kerry Kunsman Memorial Ride & Service |
This Sunday, October 9th, please join members of the SDBC Sunday Ride
back at UC Cyclery at 11:15 after another easier than usual ride, who will then be riding over to Shoreline Park South on Shelter
Island to participate in the ride in remembrance of Kerry. The Memorial Ride begins at 12:30, going along Harbor Drive and around
the bay, and will be about an hour, beginning and ending at the park where the 2:00 service will be held. Feel free to ride your

 Join many professional and amateur cyclists along our beautiful coast and through the epic Santa Monica Mountain range. The ride includes famous climbs, Deer Creek, Latigo Canyon and Mulholland into the Santa Monica Mountains. | Visit Juan Carlos |
Many SDBC club members have recently visited Juan Carlos Viñolo. He really enjoys visits from cyclists in particular, so if you can, go say hello to him! He will be at Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center until mid-November. The best time to visit is between 3 and 6 pm. He works pretty hard during the daytime with the therapists preparing him for independent living. For details and location map go to http://sdbc.org/blog-club/

"Michael Pelkey and I went to visit Juan Carlos today. I was very impressed with his demeanor and character. I can only imagine what he is going through, but can tell you he is dealing with it effectively. He was out on the patio and independently mobile in an electric wheel chair. He should be home in about 2 months. He does plan to go back to his job and looks forward to cycling again on a handcycle. JC welcomes visits. I encourage you to go." |
