CyclingSavvy Club Edition course for SDBC

CyclingSavvy Club Edition course for SDBC Fri 9/30!!

SDBC is hosting a CycllingSavvy Club Edition course for you on Friday Sept 30 - 6 to 9pm at the Mission Bay Yacht Club. CyclingSavvy instructor Gary Cziko is traveling from LA to teach this course. This is an excellent opportunity to spend a few hours learning and thinking about what you can do to be even less likely to get hit by a car. I guarantee you will be glad you went.

A good 5-minute video overview of the principles of CyclingSavvy can be found here.

The special Club Edition course is new and has removed content already known by experienced cyclists like you to concentrate on the counter-intuitive stuff that will give you something to chew on. It has been taught to four clubs in the LA area - we're the first to get it in San Diego.
A summary of the principles of CyclingSavvy that will be distributed at the course can be found here.

Since SDBC is paying for the training ($150) we have priority for the first few days, but you need to RSVP as soon as possible. After Saturday we will invite members from other Coalition member clubs, if there is room.

Please RSVP to me directly: bikecoalition@sdbc.org *

MBYC is on the end of El Carmel Pl, a mini-peninsula on the west side of Mission Bay.

Special thanks to Coalition board member and CABO President Jim Baross for getting this venue for us.

Remember: your SDBC membership includes membership in the San Diego County Bike Coalition which includes a number of benefits. See the Coalition website at sdbikecoalition.org.

Special Election

The Club is in the process of converting to a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) entity.  As a tax-exempt, sponsors will be able to deduct contributions to the Club as charitable deductions.  This should enhance our ability to obtain more corporate sponsors.

To affect this change, the state of California requires that we amend our Articles of Incorporation with the following changes:

  1. Expressly state that we will not engage in any activity that is not permitted under IRS rules pertaining to 501(c)(3) entities,
  2. Upon dissolution of the Club, all assets will be distributed only to another tax-exempt entity, and
  3. Both the Board and the Members have approved these changes.

The restated Articles of Incorporation that we propose to adopt can be viewed by clicking the following link - Restated Articles of Incorporation.

Voting by secret ballot will be Saturday, September 12, before the Saturday ride at UC Cyclery.  SDBC Secretary Adina Cowell, and SDBC Membership Director Marilyn Detloff will oversee the balloting.  There will be NO balloting via email.
